- Re: Update on Monroe Plan Pandemic Preparedness and Helpful Provider Sites
This notice is to provide your office with an update to our April 30, 2009 notice regarding Monroe Plan’s preparedness and other information that may be helpful to you and your staff during the next several months.
As you probably already know, the World Health Organization currently stands at a Phase 6 Pandemic Alert regarding the current H1N1 Type A (Swine Flu) outbreak (the W.H.O.’s highest level). The Monroe Plan continues to have an active planning team for this contingency and has developed a Pandemic Business Continuity Plan in the event of a public health emergency.
As previously shared with you, the Monroe Plan Business Continuity Plan was developed to ensure that Monroe Plan’s business activities continue while maximizing the safety of its employees, serving the needs of its enrollees, and supporting its practitioners during such an emergency state. MPMC staff also continues to monitor the reports and recommendations coming from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the New York State Department of Health, and the respective local Departments of Health in our service areas and will continue to update our Business Continuity Plan as events require.
As a reminder, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the (CDC) have developed checklists to help medical offices and ambulatory clinics assess and improve their preparedness for responding to pandemic influenza. The internet site address to access this checklist and other information is:
